Getting C++ Runtime error while playing King Arthur: Fallen Champions
Simply cannot complete a battle any more. Everything on the campaign map seems to work fine, but as soon as I try and take Varconium the game will crash with this error as soon as I click to begin, error message saying that:”Microsoft visual studio C++ error”, after arranging my troops. After this happened several times, I ventured elsewhere, and it also occurred after winning one of the quest battles, so I assume it will happen on every battle, now.

Don't know if this will help, but I am using a 4850 Toxic card with the 9.9 Catalyst drivers. You could try to downgrade to those and see if that helps? Sometimes, with other games as well, downgrading graphics drivers can help until a fix comes out. And sometimes when installing Catalyst drivers the install can be corrupted. It has happened to me on a handful of occasions. So in either event I would completely uninstall all Catalyst related software and drivers and reinstall. Maybe uninstall the C++ redists and install them again in case there are some corrupted drivers? Open a administrator command prompt and write: sfc /scannow to see if any other system files are corrupted? Do a scan of your disks, and so on. Just to be sure.

I had that bug too i think it is not about the graphic card or anything, it always happens when your quest screen is up. To find the location you open the quest screen and double click the quest, you move an army and make an action (attack/trade anything) while it is still up and it crashes the game. When i tried to do the same quests with quest screen down i had no problems. Maybe it is just a coincidence but that was what solved my problem.

This C++ Runtime Error that is causing so many people problems makes my life miserable too... I spent the last 2 hours trying to find a solution, updating drivers, un-installing PhysX and re-installing it, lowering graphics, the whole 9 yards. But in the end the game keeps crashing in the middle of the Loading Screen of the first mission (Tutorial). Though many people seem to have problems with particular missions, I am unable to even set foot onto the actual map I do have to point out I am talking about the Steam-downloaded Demo. Is there ANY way I can solve this or that it will be fixed in a patch. Because this is a game I am sure to love if I only got it to work and I fear that the full game will have the same kind of problem.

Try loading from each Graphics level, starting with 'Very Low', and, if that works, try the next higher.

Re: Getting C++ Runtime error while playing King Arthur: Fallen Champions
I finally found a answer to the crashes under Windows 7 64 bit: uninstall all your Nvidia drivers including the PhysX drivers, restart, windows will automatically reinstall a video driver, make sure that the driver version is 8.15.11.8171. This is the only driver that will not crash. This is a native driver that comes with a fresh windows 7 installation. If you can't get this driver, be there the Devices and uninstall your video card and mark the selection to "delete drivers" as well. Restart and see if you have the original native drive restored. If not, continue uninstalling your video card and remove drivers until the right driver edition shows up. Now begin the King Arthur game and the game will manually reinstall a PhysX driver. Afterward, Enable the PhysX. I hope this will help you.

You haven't had this issue prior to v1.04. Have you tried upgrading your drivers? And/or downgrading them? Have you tried to disable PhysX in Nvidia control panel and see if that works? At any rate I would suggest you to contact with the support and describing your issue in detail and they will solve your issue.

Re: Getting C++ Runtime error while playing King Arthur: Fallen Champions
I was about to give up on this game, as what had been an occasional crash in battles had become 90% crashes by turn 250. In my case, it would randomly crash usually right at what should be the end of the battle. But after looking here, and doing some testing, I found it was indeed (as other had reported) an issue with rotating the camera. There is some other interaction involved, however, as my camera use habits have not changed, but in some testing last night, I simply religiously avoided rotating the camera, and was able to successfully complete battles that had always crashed before. And it makes sense that it would happen right at the end of the battle, where the first thing the camera does is spin around your army. I might have hit the crash earlier, but I always escape out of the intro swooping around the battlefield, as I found that feature useless and somewhat nauseating to watch.

Make a backup of your game files, then un-install. Clean your registry and hard drive of any trace of both the demo and the game itself. I can't remember where or when, but I know that this was the issue for at least one person and it got resolved after these steps were taken. Hope it works for you as well.
